Galena Therapeutic Bodyworks

The Therapist

The foundation for Galena Therapeutic Bodyworks started in 2018, with a better visual for life. After working in chaotic environments, Maggie made the change to be “well” and ventured into the health and wellness world, seeking sanctuary. It was there, at a local massage studio, where she found it. Never had received a massage prior to starting, she quickly came to understand just how “deep” massage goes and began the plan to start her own private practice.

The Knowledge

Soon after starting on my path of becoming a massage therapist, I was accepted into the Advance Neuromuscular Therapy Program at Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy, where I received an accumulative of 850- accredited hours in studies such as massage therapy, anatomy, physiology. While attending school, I was employed as a chiropractic assistant, where I worked along side a knowledgeable Doctor of chiropractic care, treating patients of motor vehicle (auto) accidents, neuro-muscular dysfunctions and those who suffer from daily chronic pain. It was there that I was able to utilize the education I was receiving at CIMT and apply it in real time, as well as gain additional insight into nervous system in conjunction to the muscular system.

The Technique

Each session is tailored to your body's needs, adjusting techniques as we go through an intuitive approach. Warming up the muscles is key to avoiding fatigue and soreness, I use slow, gliding movements from Swedish techniques to achieve this and to promote relaxation. After a few minutes, I gradually increase pressure in specific muscle areas. I may use techniques like friction, trigger point release, and compression for deeper tension relief. For active clients, I include sports massage techniques like stretching and joint exercises. Depending on your goals, I either keep moderate pressure for relaxation or use deeper methods, including scraping, cupping, and hot/cold stone therapy, focusing on muscular dysfunctions issues.

the massage abilities are endless.
